While I was away, a family of four doves started nesting on our front porch.
Intrigued by their arrival, I researched and learned that while a ubiquitous bird, their mortality rate is about 60%.
Now I’m obsessed with protecting them from neighborhood cats, gangster squirrels, and rock-slinging children.
I won’t let harbingers of peace die on my watch, no sir.
